Art Tour SMA
By Jade Arroyo
The Art Tour is a new concept in San Miguel de Allende, which proposes a unique experience of rapprochement and dialogue between artist and public. They are opening the doors of studios and art galleries, where people have the opportunity to know the creative process and see the development of the pieces. We went to tour some of the San Miguel studios with the manager of the tour, Arturo Aranda.
Each tour is divided into four blocks, a walk to four different galleries/studios, showing different media, such as painting, sculpture, or design. At each location tour participants will be offered a cocktail to stimulate the gathering.
To book an Art Tour, write firstname.lastname@example.org. The ticket cost is US$55, including cocktails and transportation.
On this occasion we visited the Manuk gallery. This gallery/art studio is a space where art has freedom, intuition, and creativity. It offers sculpture and contemporary painting.
We then visited BarroCo: Lorenzo’s studio is a place that makes you feel as if you are in a dream of magical and mythological creatures. Ana Thiel creates sculpture with glass and different materials. Its varied series reflect the constant search for a meaning. Kathleen Cammarata has been a painter for 34 years. Kathleen’s drawings and paintings are in collections in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
