All are welcome to this meaningful pre-Passover Shabbat Service, Friday, April 7.
A Musical Evening Shabbat Service
“First Friday … Live!”
Fri, Apr 7, 5:30–7pm
The JC3 (Jewish Cultural and Community Center)
Calle de las Moras 47
Corner of Cinco de Mayo
Join us for a lively brief musical Shabbat celebration. We honor the traditions of Judaism with songs, readings, prayers, poetry, stories—some familiar, some contemporary. You are invited to join in the singing and share in the readings.
We begin our Shabbat gathering with a “meet and greet Oneg” at 5:30pm. The service itself begins at 5:45pm and concludes by 7pm (in time for other evening plans).
Services are led by Maxine Graboyes, formerly the cantorial soloist for B’nai Vail Congregation in Vail, Colorado. Maxine brings grace, skill, and enthusiasm to the music. People gladly join in, raise their voices, and experience the joy of Shabbat. She also has had a career as a professional singer appearing on Broadway, television, and in recordings.
Joining Maxine in leadership is Judith Jenya, a life-long explorer of various Jewish paths and former director of a large Reform synagogue in northern California. She has led various kinds of services and participated in many around the world.
We look forward to your heartfelt participation. We are building a celebrating community that may become a spiritual home for non-traditional Jews and those who may not have participated in other Jewish observances in San Miguel.
First Friday … Live! happens each first Friday of the month at the JC3 (the Jewish Community and Cultural Center), Las Moras 47 at the corner of Cinco de Mayo, in colonia Guadiana.
However, we will not meet in the month of May.
