On Saturday, March 18, friends of Festival Internacional de Música San Miguel de Allende gathered in the beautiful gardens of hotel Villas Xichú to celebrate the love of music and arts and to honor a beloved friend who has for a long time served both the festival and the community, Barbara Bladen Porter.

The “Salute to Excellence” is the first in a planned series of the Festival’s choral music concerts under the direction of John Goodwin. John, a resident of San Miguel and New York City, led the New York Choral Society for 25 years. The evening featured delightful surprises: the talented chorus and soloists from CentrOpera Enrique Jaso, Mexico City, presenting Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, the unveiling of the painting by Edgar Soberón to be used as the festival image 2017 (available for sale during the festival dates), and the lovely food presented by the gastronomic faculty of Universidad Tecnológica de San Miguel de Allende.

The event was possible thanks to the great contribution of our friends and sponsors Villas Xichú, Agave Realty Rental, Camino Silvestre, Universidad Tecnológica de San Miguel de Allende, Peter Sumner, and other supporters.
