Airport in San Miguel: Playground for the Privileged Few, Noise and Pollution for the Many

It is sad to learn that the San Miguel de Allende airport keeps coming back to life just like a kitchen cockroach that refuses to die. This is a big investment, but it is money that will leave San Miguel and produce no real benefits for the city. A handful of millionaires will enjoy aerial views of San Miguel on their private planes while the city endures added noise and pollution. Sanmiguelenses will take another hit in their already plummeting quality of life. Plus the investment is also wasteful considering the under-utilized airport in Celaya is only a 40-minute drive and already built and ready to be used. What if this money were to be invested in improving the deplorable public transportation system in San Miguel de Allende? That will reduce pollution, help solve the traffic problems, and improve the quality of life of tens of thousands of Sanmiguelenses. City Government, please come back to earth and understand the real needs of the city that elected you!
