Brown & Rodríguez Opening
By Jade Arroyo
Last Thursday, March 23, we attended the inauguration of the Brown/Rodríguez showroom, located inside the Umo Gallery, Jesús 20, in San Miguel de Allende. Brown/Rodriguez is the result of the merger of two artists, Linda Brown and Paul Rodriguez, who combined their styles and techniques in a collection of furniture, lighting, and unique interior design in which craftsmanship and artistic application are preserved.
Linda Brown is dedicated to the design and craftsmanship of furniture and unique pieces of decoration.
Paul Rodríguez is a San Miguel native. At an early age he began studying engraving with his parents, Manuel Rodríguez and Rosemarie Schwartz, and teacher Gilberto Guerrero. From the beginning he showed a unique style, which has allowed him to create several collection aquatints and etchings, many of them exhibited in Mexico City, France, Italy, and Denmark.
Rodriguez has fused his engraving craftsmanship with jewelry design, fabric prints, and other applied techniques on utilitarian objects, where the sheet of cooper or sterling or canvas or leather is engraved or printed to afterwards become a unique piece.
