The 2017 Magic Town Festival took place a few weeks ago, bringing great musicians to town, such as Maylee Thomas, Big Cat, Malford Milligan, Dave Sebree, and Red Young, broadening the local cultural buffet.

The Magic Town Music Festival is thrilled to bring together musicians from both north and south of the border to benefit the charity Casa de Los Ángeles, a free day-care center, which offers an integral, caring program for San Miguel children and their moms. Casa de Los Ángeles is a local self-sustainable nonprofit which provides a safe and educational environment for small children from San Miguel—a day-care for little angels that’s a complete service combining health care, education, nutrition, support, and counseling for single mothers.

At the beautiful Ruffo House, we attended the kickoff party thrown by Carrie Cameron, director of the festival, and by the amazing hostess and chef Linnea Ruffo.

The party was filled with people dancing to some of the featured musicians, others enjoying circus performers, and some testing the fare at tables filled with wine, cheese, fruit, and food by Taco Lab and Birdie’s Burgers.

Every year, the party seems to get bigger and brighter, attracting people who support art and celebrating the gift of giving. To know more about the festival, visit www.magictownmusic.org, and to donate to Casa de Los Angeles, see www.casadelosangeles.org
