Girls’ Club

By Joan DiPiero

Calico and tortoise-shell cats, not a breed but a color type, are always female (with very few exceptions). Right now, at the SPA, we have perfect examples of all four types—calico, tortoise, and dilute versions of each. Madeline, a black, orange, and white calico sweetheart, is a mellow 2-year-old mama who prefers living with the kittens, although her own babies have grown. Three-year-old Winifred, a peach, gray, and white dilute calico, enjoys being petted and is playfully young at heart. Margo, a 10-month-old tortoise, black with threads of henna, is affectionate and fun-loving. Two-year-old Elena, a dilute tortoise, features luxuriant gray and peach long fur and is one of our most loving cats. She never tires of sitting on laps.

Which is your favorite? Meet these and all our adoptable animals at the SPA, Los Pinos 7, 152 6124, Monday-Saturday, 11am–2pm. If you would like to adopt a cat, we will ask you some questions and then introduce you to our cats. Cat adoptions are 400 pesos. This includes vaccinations, deworming, and sterilization. We also offer an adoption kit (tote bag, litter box, litter, scoop, and starter food) for 200 pesos. See you at the SPA!
