Galería San Francisco
San Francisco 1, 2nd floor
Reminiscent of the American Precisionist artist Charles Sheeler, Sweeny’s past work focused on the dramatic effects of sunlight on the architecture of San Miguel. These works with their emphasis on lights, darks, and shadows are precise renditions of many buildings in San Miguel and are executed in acrylic with color pencil overlay. He has also created a series based on urban graffiti found on the walls of San Miguel.
The artist’s work was recently selected from thousands of entries to be featured in AcrylicWorks 4, The Best of Acrylic Painting, published by Northlight Books, to be released on March 15.
His continuing fascination with graffiti and urban art as well as a great appreciation of the graphic artists of Oaxaca combine to form this new body of work. Don’t miss this exciting exhibit which will be featured through April 10.
