“Mexican Home” is a concert of songs that comes from Catherine and Marc’s love of singing together beginning in their Mexican home 15 years ago. The common threads of love for each other and life in San Miguel, hope for fulfillment of peace and equality, and resistance to the darkness of despair weave through their music. From writers such as Kate Wolf, John Prine, Bob Dylan,Nancy Griffth, Richard Farina, Mick Handly, Leonard Cohen and more, many of their songs are familiar. You will want to sing with them. Others are new. You will want to hear them.

Catherine and Marc’s voices and guitar produce intricate and sensitive harmonies. Their ability to relate and respond to audiences has become a trademark of their performances. Their ability to communicate the emotional truth and poetry of their songs makes their performance an intimate experience. Their musical sensibilities were forged in the Folk Music revival of the 1960s and while the performance is reminiscent of those times, it is immediately relevant and contemporary.

They are described as having an eclectic and folksy mix. They are heart driven. You can’t miss the passion in their singing. They are engaging and they encourage the audience to join in and sing along.

Rolando Gotes and Sach Rioja, both sought after accompanists in San Miguel, join Catherine and Marc for “Mexican Home.” The ensemble has just the right blend of the familiar and modern arrangements. The music has a sensitive blend of cultures and tradition that remind us all of our “Mexican Home.”

The San Miguel Playhouse is located at Avenue Independencia 82 in Colonia Independencia, about five minutes from the Jardín by taxi. All seats are reserved. Doors open one hour before performances, with bar service in the lobby seating area. There is free secure parking and taxi concierge service.
