The Faces of San Miguel

By Ricardo Ledezma

Born in Toronto, Canada, Gary Taber spent his childhood being a kid in the 1940s, then grew up to spend his career as a Professional Engineer. During this time, he spent many years taking life drawing and painting at the Three Small Schools of Art. After working abroad in the Philippines for a year, he retired from engineering and found a new art medium that melded perfectly with his detailed eye—colored artist pencils. Working tedious layer upon layer, in fine detail, his subjects take on a remarkable level of realism. His portrait commissions are mainly of beloved children and memories of family pets, which are recreated from photographs. This is the first showing of The Faces of San Miguel. Gary’s first exhibition is at the Galería Aldama, located in Centro on Aldama 3. Gary will be leaving our gallery on March 15. Come by and see The Faces of San Miguel!
