Valentine’s Jazz Concert

If you want to start a romantic night, join us to celebrate together this Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 7pm, at the Teatro Angela Peralta. There will be an extraordinary concert of the XXIII International Festival of Jazz and Blues in San Miguel de Allende, to celebrate love and friendship, Valentine’s Day, with the participation of singer Julie Kelly directly from Los Angeles, the great Bobby Kapp from New York with drums and vocals, one of the greatest guitarist from Mexico City Francisco Leleo de Larrea, and on the bass Antonio Lozoya from San Miguel de Allende.

You can enjoy the lovely music of the greatest jazz composers such as Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and many others.

Bobby Kapp has been one of the leading musicians in the jazz scene in San Miguel de Allende. Drummer, singer, and harmonica performer, he performed with Gato Barbieri, Dexter Gordon, Marion Brown, Etta Jones, Dave Burrell and Howard Noha. He has developed his own style of singing that has led him to be one of the top ten finalists for the “Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competitions” in New York.

The guitarist Francisco Lelo de Larreas has been in New York, where he obtained a master’s degree in jazz performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College, with a scholarship from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) of Mexico. At the same time he is presenting his project with musicians from the New York scene and is working on his second album. He has performed in major venues in Mexico, Central and South America, Spain, and the United States, including the Lincoln Center in New York.

Antonio Lozoya, bassist, earned a Bachelor of Music (jazz), National Institute of Fine Arts, Mexico City. Lozoya has performed in festivals in Mexico, Cuba, and the United States, accompanied by prominent jazz personalities such as Dave Pike, Bob Sheppard, John Ronstadt, Francisco Mela, Lila Downs, Art Lande, Paul McCandless, Othello Molineaux, Brice Winston, and many others.
