We’ve all heard the so-called conventional wisdom that cats are standoffish, aloof and independent. But cats, just like people, run the gamut of personalities, and at the SPA, we find most of our cats affectionate, with some absolute lap hounds and others demanding their share of petting.
As far as interaction with other cats, to dispel the notion that cats are solo creatures, here are three examples of feline bonding taking place at the SPA. Cali and Tina, teenage girls, are wise enough to know that synchronized purring is twice as comforting as going it alone. Hermes and Sherlock revel in their orangeness, convinced they are part of an exclusive club. Eight-year-old Martin and one-year-old female Taiwan appear to be in love, but Martin insists there’s no funny business, just a paternal, platonic relationship.
Preview all our animals at spasanmiguel.org (Adopt me! pages). Adoption hours are 11-2, Monday-Saturday, Los Pinos 7, 152 6124. Every day, we have different combos of affectionate pairings, so please consider adopting two cats as company for each other. On the other hand, if you insist on just one, we have several cats that turn up their nose at all this bonding “nonsense” and will be perfectly content to be your only love.
