Now that 2016 has come to a close, I am grateful thinking about all 100-plus lucky SPA cats who found homes this past year. I can’t help but reflect on those left behind. Would you be surprised to know that at least two-thirds of our adoptions are our smallest kittens? Sure, they are adorable, but within a few short months, they too grow up. Have you considered one of our many wonderful adult cats? I’m not talking about seniors; in fact, most of our felines are eight months to three years old. On your way to see the kittens, can you walk past creamsicle orange Hermes, still a teenager, wanting to play with a wand toy? Will you bypass luxuriantly furry Carlotta, who begs for a head rub? Can you ignore cream snowshoe-type Katya, who reclines regally in front of you? Can’t you see how much tortoise Elena would love some time on your lap? If you are thinking of adopting, we welcome you to ooh and ahh over our tiny ones, but please give a second look to our still young vibrant cats deserving of attention and a loving home. Adoption hours at the SPA, Los Pinos 7, 152 6124, are Monday–Saturday, 11am–2pm.
