Processions, Plays, Piñatas and Paintings: A San Miguel Christmas

By Robin Loving

The Christmas holiday season in San Miguel spans from the celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe on December 12 to that of St. Nicholas to Three Kings’ Day January 6. The holidays are a grand celebration of Jesus’ birth and one of the loveliest and most culturally active times in San Miguel. To understand the cultural significance of each of these celebrations along with their corresponding processions, plays, piñatas and paintings, come to Rotary Tuesday, December 6, when author and tour guide Joseph Toone will share his wry and witty explanations.
