Dear Editor

Please Mr. Mayor, do not invite the president-elect of the United States to San Miguel.

Of the gringos living here in this beautiful city, I doubt that many, if any, voted for him.

If you want to do something good for the gringos living here, I suggest installing more trash barrels, especially in the neighborhoods. We gringos do not like to see trash thrown in the streets. We prefer living in a clean city. We would be very happy to see more trash barrels on the corners instead of trash dropped anywhere.

Another thing we would appreciate is better street lighting in our neighborhoods. We don’t like to stumble around in the dark while walking home after eating out or going to a concert. I’m sure better street lighting would lower the incidence of muggings.

I can only imagine the amount of money it would cost the city of San Miguel to bring the president-elect of the US here. A wiser use of the money to create a cleaner San Miguel and a safer one makes a lot more sense to me than inviting a person who has spoken so negatively about the Mexican people.
