Letters, your voice

“Most things in life begin with a thought, then the full story and sometimes incredible success come after a lot of hard work. But if you love what you do, then it doesn’t matter and heavy work turns to joy and happiness. That is what the children in five communities believe when they open their eyes to art. Art gives meaning to life. Important poets, writers, songwriters, and artists can change the world with their art, their songs, their poetry, and their stories. They give us love for humanity, passion for the earth, and stop the cruelest wars! Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Bob Geldof, Bono of U2. In Latin America, we have Jose Marti, Gabriel Garcia Márquez, Pablo Neruda, and Mario Vargas Llosa. The influence of their work tells us that “the pen is mightier than the sword,” for they are among the most influential figures of our times, without violence. The power of art is beyond words. Art is food that nourishes our souls. It alone can change a mediocre life into brilliant, joyful existence. An artist founded the Children’s Art Foundation in 2010. Its unique program, Literacy Through Art, does not just teach children drawing and mixing colors, but thinking, writing, imagining, and building a better future. They read the great fables and animal stories full of wisdom of Quiroga or Hans Christian Anderson, which make them laugh. They designed their own original artwork dedicated to Peace on Earth. The work of the top 50 finalists is published in the latest Creative Children book #6. The winners’ work will be exhibited to the public at the Bellas Artes on November 12. Amazing organizations like Amistad Canada, Peace Pals International, Rotary Club Midday, composer Michael Hoppe, Rosewood Hotel, The Restaurant Sollano 16, Coldwell Bankers Smart, and many more help the children. The support of incredible volunteers like Kathy and Jim Machir, Jim Blakley, Dieter Storr, Michelle McGowan, Suzanne Bright, Colleen Krushelinski, and Jim Reeves made the children’s Literacy Through Art program the wonderful success it is. You can meet the young winners of this year’s children’s art contest on November 12 at 5pm in the Auditorium, Bellas Artes. The Peace Art Exhibit will run until January 2017.
