Daniel Herrera, Technology
Meet La Biblioteca
By Jade Arroyo
We invite you to meet the people who make up La Biblioteca. They are the faces, hands, and voices of this institution.
Daniel Herrera is a 27-year-old computer technician with an easygoing temperament and cordial manner. Now he is also the head of the Department of Information and Systems.
His work involves everything related to the support and operation of the computer network, equipment, and internal systems. It covers all areas of La Biblioteca, from the administration, to the library network, to the newspaper. Daniel manages both the Biblioteca website and social networks. La Biblioteca, Atención San Miguel, the Café, and Teatro Santa Ana are also supported with technical services for Wi-Fi, connection issues, equipment, and other technical situations.
Daniel holds a degree in Information Technology from the Technological University of Querétaro and in four months will complete a master’s degree in Organizational Development at the local campus of the University of León, where he also teaches. His teaching profession has been a most rewarding experience. During the week he teaches people who are nearly contemporaries, and he applies what he learns from their classes when he sits on the other side of the desk on Saturday and returns to being a student. He is intelligent and precise in communicating. He has been teaching four computer-related subjects and technology for three years.
Teaching has been a way of discovering. Daniel has learned to be more tolerant, to be aware of different mindsets, and to keep up-to-date all the time.
Currently, Daniel is diagnosing the state of the network installation, operation, and organization. When the diagnostic stage ends, he will follow a plan for network optimization of La Biblioteca. The impact of this work will bring La Biblioteca up to the level of other institutions and give it greater visibility with the public.
Daniel and his family are natives of San Miguel de Allende. He is fond of good food and wine, reading, and reflection. Highly organized and punctual, he is not shy, but quietly friendly.
Technology has always been his passion because it is natural for him. He is aware of the enormous capacity of technology and the capability of sharing information across distances.
His future plans are to complete his master’s degree and to travel a little outside the country, soaking up new culture and ways of seeing, and of course, trying new cuisines.
