Take a Walk Through the New Guadiana Park!
By Paul Roach
You may have walked through Guadiana Park recently and noticed the many memorial stones that have been installed in the new central sidewalk. Sanmiguelenses have been helping the Guadiana Park renovation efforts by purchasing inscribed stones which are then placed into the sidewalk to honor their loved ones and pets. We encourage you to help the Guadiana Park Steering Committee raise the funds necessary to finish the park renovation by purchasing a stone!
Here is a partial list of what is in process and what has been done for this beautiful gem of a park so far. New stone sidewalks and plazas, one new and one renovated fountain, new chess tables and chairs, new lighting, new trees and gardens (a remarkably active pollinator garden was donated by the Garden Club of San Miguel, Vivero Franke, and Vivero Primavera), tree parasite removal (some lovely old mesquite trees that are much happier now), and bench installations.
We still have stone spaces available for purchase at a cost of USD$300 (or equivalent) for a small stone and $500 USD (or equivalent) for a large stone If you would like to be part of this effort by purchasing a sidewalk stone for a loved one, please contact Steering Committee Member Donna Phillips at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, Guadiana Park is located between Potranca and Guadiana streets a half block east of Ancha de San Antonio. We hope to hear from you soon!
