Burn injuries are one of the most devastating of all injuries and a major global public health concern. We don’t often think about them until after they happen. Here in San Miguel there are many risk factors to consider, the most common of which relate to gas heaters, gas leaks, gas stoves, and electric blankets.

On Thursday, October 13, Dr. Juan Bosco will present a lecture on burn safety and prevention. He will offer simple preventative measures both inside and outside of the home and review common causes of burn injuries as well as treatments.

Peace of Mind in San Miguel and H+ Hospital San Miguel present the Medical Lecture Series. Every second Thursday of the month, local board-certified doctors will offer key information on how to treat and prevent chronic illness, accidents, and common ailments. In this first medical lecture, Dr. Claudia Aguilar, Medical Director of H+ Hospital, will also present an overview of the Medical Lecture Series and introduce the doctors who will be presenting topics in 2016–2017.

We invite you to come meet Dr. Juan Bosco—plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgeon who practices at H+ Hospital in San Miguel.

Dr. Bosco performed reconstructive vascular surgery in San Miguel on a friend of Chelsea Clinton´s who was a victim of a bull attack during one of the Pamplonadas (running of the bulls). The patient was transferred via air ambulance to Stanford Medical Center where top vascular surgeons commended Dr. Bosco on his surgery. As a result, Dr. Bosco was invited to be a mini-fellow at Stanford in gratitude for his surgical intervention in this case. Dr. Bosco was also a teaching fellow at Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas. While there he shared his advanced knowledge of acute and reconstructive burns management. as well as microsurgical treatment interventions. He is also a member of Bioskinco, a German international group for the development of new technologies in burn patient care at four prominent universities in Europe.
