News About El Vergel Bistro & Market

By Angela Lewis Serrano

El Vergel Bistro & Market has been open for almost 5 months and is having great success. Eating exceptional and traditional French food on their terrace under a majestic mesquite tree is a rich experience.

The market is a vibrant epicurean spot, offering café style dining with an abundant selection of gourmet products. They have sandwiches and bagels made at the moment, soups, salads, spreads, and pasta sauces, all prepared with fine ingredients in their kitchen. They also have an abundant selection of groceries which you normally find in a deli or produce market, such as cheese, locally made and imported, charcuterie, olives, olive oils, snacks, nuts, seasonings, cereals, grains, rice, pasta, jams, honey, oriental products, dairy, organic eggs, coffee, tea, ice cream, fruit, vegetables, marinated meats, organic chicken, and beef from Cañada de La Virgen. Super foods and fresh, locally produced spirulina are among their offerings as well. There is also a selection of wine, liquors, and beer. They carry the Atención, so forget about traffic and parking and get your newspaper at this market.

Home delivery is now being offered, from Guadalupe all the way to Atotonilco (including Aurora, Mexiquito, Las Ventanas, Candelaria, Vista Antigua, Rancho del Sol Dorado, La Loma, Labradores, and Cieneguita). Drop-offs are made Tuesday through Sunday between 10am and 5pm. Free delivery for purchases of 300 pesos (there is a 30 pesos charge for smaller orders). You can call and order from the market as well as the bistro.

El Vergel Bistro serves French bistro fare in an outdoor country setting with a great selection of wine and a full bar with new cocktails. Both breakfast and lunch are served Tuesdays through Sundays from 9am to 6pm. You will find weekly specials from Chef Magda Pablos and special Mexican dishes during the month of September to celebrate Mexico’s independence.

The place is dog-friendly, so bring your doggies! There’s lots of parking available. El Vergel is becoming the up-and-coming design hub, with Lisa Kingsley and Krista Boazman and furniture and items from Wabi and Sollano 16.
