Audubon is planning a bird walk at Montecillo de Nieto for September 21 from 7:45am to noon. Meet in front of Instituto Allende, Ancha de San Antonio 20. This will be free for members and 150 pesos or US$10 for nonmembers. For more information, contact Bob Graham at 154 9856.

Camino de la Paz will host the International Day of Peace September 21 beginning at the Jardín at 11:30am and walk to Parque Juárez at 12:45pm for activities there 1–4pm. Activities will include tai chi, music, team building, peace dances, garden tours, group dialogues about peace, and a silent meditation for peace. Casa de los Ángeles will host Music, Munchies, Margaritas, and Masks for November 9 and December 14 at Casa de la Cuesta, 4–6pm.

Cruz Roja hosts its third annual dinner gala September 27 at 7pm at the Rosewood with Palmira Brizuela and Chris Aude playing music. Feed the Hungry San Miguel’s Halloween fundraiser, Ghouls for Schools, will take place October 31, 5:30–10:30pm at El Cincuenta y Ocho Restaurant & Concert Bar at Mesones 58. Net proceeds from just one ticket (US$85/1,500 pesos) will provide 116 hot school lunches for San Miguel’s poorest children! Lifelong Learning has scheduled another class on Madama Butterfly on February 3 because the first sold out. Class will be from 10am to 3pm, including lunch, and will cost 410 pesos. Volunteer News

Audubon is seeking volunteers a day or two a week to watch for 10 bird species in your garden, a local park, or along a street you regularly walk to record the species and number of birds you see in a 10-minute period. To begin, contact audubondemexico@gmail.com.

Camino de la Paz seeks Peace Day volunteers to set up in Parque Juárez September 21 from 10am to 1pm, to help during the event from 1 to 4pm., and then to help dismantle the event from 5 to 6pm. Volunteer opportunities include staffing the welcome table, running errands, setting up tables and chairs, guiding the public, carrying a mojiganga between the Jardín and the park, serving as a webmaster, taking videos, and taking photos. Democrats Abroad is seeking volunteers to make sure citizens of the US in Mexico are registered to vote. Some of the work is phone work done by computer. Go to democratsabroad.org/voter_support_team for more information.
