September Pets of the Month
From the SPA
By Lynn Weisberg and Joan DiPiero
Our September cats, Nina and Quixote, vary in color and gender, but both score similarly off the charts on “snuggability” ratings. Nina was found wandering through a neighborhood, meowing and following residents, hopeful that someone would take her home. Now that she’s here, she’s still pursuing a forever home, vocalizing her desire to be adopted, eagerly offering up her tummy to be petted, and positioning herself as close as possible for extra attention. A one-year-old calico pretty girl, she’s one of our most affectionate cats. Quixote was found on someone’s patio, seemingly lost, with no neighbors recognizing him. About one-year-old, this handsome tuxedo black and white cat loves to sit on laps or snuggle as close to you as he can get. For those of you who want a loving cat, these are two special ones for your consideration.

Our September highlighted dogs are Chata and Emma, both blondes, but totally different in appearance. Chata was brought to us by a couple who had agreed to watch her for a week for neighbors; six months later the owners had still not retrieved her and were nowhere to be found! The foster couple worked long hours and had to keep her tied up while they worked. Recognizing that this was no life for a dog, they brought her to us. She is a terrier mix, small/medium-sized, and cute as a button. She is very playful and smart, having learned to sit in one lesson. She doesn’t shed and would love to curl up with a forever human. Emma, a gorgeous, medium-sized beauty, adores kids and is extremely patient and loving with them! She had a home, but was surrendered due to a change in the family’s circumstances. She is a marvelous pet, very protective of her people, and housebroken. She needs to be the only dog in a home since she believes it’s her job to be the protector, and she wants to do it herself! She is quite calm, loyal, and quik to bond with people.
