Casita Linda announces An Evening in the French Park on October 8 at Parque Juárez. The gala will feature champagne, hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, a seated dinner, dancing, and surprises. The auction will include trips to Paris, Napa Valley, and Punta Mita as well as elegant private dinner parties. All proceeds will benefit the building of homes for the poorest in our community. Tickets are US$135 per person and are available at La Conexion on Aldama.
Democrats Abroad is sponsoring nonpartisan voter registration and absentee ballot assistance August 20 and 27 from 9am to 3pm at the Saturday Organic Market, and August 23, 25, and 30, and September 1, from 11am to 2pm at La Biblioteca.
El Charco Botanic Garden offers guided tours Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am in English. Their traditional temazcal will be held with Gustavo Mungia Sunday, August 28, at 10am.
The Rural Education Institute (www.ruraledmexico.org) is looking for free housing for male and female interns in their mid-20s from September 10 to December 20. The Rural Education Institute of Mexico is an NGO with the goal of helping youth in the campo, ages 8–18, get extra academic help in an after school program. San Miguel Institute of Bel Canto is hosting public concerts of young opera singers at Bellas Artes Saturday, August 20, at 7pm and Wednesday, August 24, at 7pm. Tickets are 100–200 pesos at Bellas Artes for the first concert and at Ángela Peralta Theater for the second.
Security San Miguel is hosting a town hall meeting on traffic and parking Wednesday, August 24, at 9:30am at El Sindicato.
