Betse Davies is one of the most beloved personalities in the expat community, being deeply involved in voluntarism and noble causes. She’s mostly known for her work in Patronato Pro Niños, representing the tours. Betse just celebrated her 90th birthday last week, in company of good friends of many different ages and nationalities. The garden party was celebrated at the beautiful gardens of Casa de La Noche, with music, laughter and cake.

Betse became interested on Patronato Pro Niños 21 years ago, when she herself took the first Walking Tour, now a three times per week guided tour around the Centro. This tour actually generates 10 percent of the funding for the healthcare programs. She loved the tours and got involved in fiving them. She attributes the success of the Walking Tours to the great volunteers who share their time and interest in San Miguel de Allende’s history.

The scripts for the tours are updated periodically to feature new information and also to focus on special subjects, like architecture or religious festivities that are so much a part of San Miguel’s.

Betse, a retired high-school teacher, is a fan of history and humanities. She also volunteers for Mujeres en Cambio and is an active member of the Unitarian Church.

Patronato Pro Niños is an non profit organization that gives medical, dental, and psychological care to children of SMA and the rural areas around it. For further info visit www.patronatoproninos.org.
