Farewell, Maru Arriaga
By Jesús Aguado
The second change in the cabinet of the local administration headed by Ricardo Villarreal will take place on August, 18. That is when Maru Arriaga Silva will leave the Public Relations Department.
Ahead of time, Maru Arriaga told Atención of her decision. She said that her reason for leaving the Department was “truly personal.” Her husband is living in Canada, and she will emigrate there after leaving the administration.
“I am resigning from the Public Relations Department because my husband is Canadian. We did have a business here, but we closed it; he has been in Canada since July, 9. The reasons are personal; they lead me to leave not just San Miguel de Allende but my country. This situation is also forcing me to leave a project in which I truly believe, Ricardo Villarreal’s project. I respect him very much, and I know that he still will perform many good works for San Miguel,” she said.
Maru Arriaga told Atención that the best experience she had as Head of the Public Relations Department was the relationship with the members of the press. “I did learn to identify the ideologies, styles, and temperaments. I learned that the differences can be great, but when we find coincidences, we can perform better.” As a director, she said, she was alert 24 hours a day.
After August 18, the new director will be Paola Enríquez, a young woman who studied communications at the Universidad de La Salle Bajío. She was the director of Public Relations for the Municipal Commission of Sports in León, and she also worked as PR of a local legislator and in a politics and communications agency.
