The Film Hillary Doesn’t Want Seen

Hillary Clinton

By David Johanssen

With the FBI now promising not to recommend prosecution of Hillary Clinton’s email mishandling, she becomes more than ever the likely Democrat candidate and, indeed, the next president. As part of our voter awareness program, on Wednesday, July 20 at 5pm, Shelter will present “Hillary: the Movie: The Clintons Exposed,” featuring the controversial film that was banned just before the Democratic primaries. After fervid attempts by the Clinton campaign to block the film, the Federal Election Commission ruled that it was “electioneering communication” and so stopped its airing on cable TV. The case later went to the Supreme Court, resulting in a very controversial ruling on campaign finance.

With many interviews, news articles, and investigative reports, the documentary takes a close look at the “real” Hillary Clinton to give the viewer an in-depth look into what drives our presumptive first woman president. After the film we will have a balanced discussion of Hillary Clinton and what her administration might look like. 100 pesos (includes drink).

With radical organizations sprouting up everywhere, we all need to take a closer look at the dark forces we face. On Saturday, July 16 at 5pm, we present The Jihadist Next Door, a firsthand glimpse of the shadowy world of terrorism by the man who infiltrated an extremist group in Britain. Over the course of two years, he gained unfettered access to their inner workings and even rubbed shoulders with one of the most notorious ISIS militants on the international stage. Some of the militants even advocate implementation of strict Sharia law in the UK. In our post-film discussion, we will talk about the spread of Islamist ideology across the globe. 50 pesos.

Friday, July 22, at 5pm: Cuba the Beautiful. Twenty-first century Cuba promises to be like nowhere else you’ve ever visited: economically poor but culturally rich; visibly mildewed but architecturally magnificent. Cuba has been restricted economically for the past 50 years, but its relative isolation has left its island wildlife untouched. Come see what Cuba is today and what it is destined to become! 50 pesos. Discussion follows.
