Shamanism: Journeys Through Wisdom and Power

By Antonio Ramírez

Life was moving as usual or better at a logical pace. Day-to-day events seemed to be under my control; I had to get up, go to work, get back home, eat, spend time with my partner, and sleep. That flow broke when I started to have experiences that went beyond the logic I knew. They were unexpected events that caused me fear and anxiety. Why was this happening when I did not believe in those kinds of events? It was years before I found an answer: “You need to explore these events to participate in reducing suffering.”

I found the answer when I found shamanism. I understand it as methods to access non-ordinary states of consciousness that allow us to access realities that are beyond common logic. These non-ordinary states open doors to unexpected and powerful spiritual worlds that allow us to perform fantastic feats like knowing what is happening in a remote place, finding people, diagnosing illnesses and, above all, to recognize that we all are spiritual beings with direct contact with the universal wisdom.

Shamanism understands that the universe has three parts: the middle world, where we spend much of our time; the lower world, where we find teachers from nature in animal form; and the upper world, where there are teachers in human form. These teachers share their wisdom and power with us. Shamanic students bring those teachings to the middle world to heal all the suffering of all beings.

We will share some of these experiences in our theater piece: Shamanism: Journey Through Power and Wisdom in didactic and experiential forms.
