This project began in 2013 with the aim of providing a space for the creative effervescence of Mexico. The Alternative Design Bazaar has been an itinerant open space in the city for the dissemination of Mexican independent design and a showcase for the work of emerging artists.

In the format of a pop-up market for a weekend, creators and public gather to celebrate national fashion and design, supporting the economy and fair trade.

This 16th Design Bazaar returns this July 16 and 17, bringing more than 50 independent and creative brands, many of which will be making their debut in San Miguel de Allende. New designers include the organic cotton clothes of Coko, Mexican pop artwork by Amantis, recycled wood sunglasses by AB Point, offerings in marble by Onyx Shop, Dulce Element lingerie, and Milagros Textiles bags.

There will also be a pop-up makeup studio for celebrity makeup artist Ceci Gomez, who will offer express makeup sessions and present her exclusive line of brushes. Among her clients are Latin music artists such as Juanes, Maná, Natalia Lafourcade, Ely Guerra, Jesse and Joy, Pepe Aguilar, Jaguares, Moderato, Molotov, Sin Banderas, Cafe Tacuba, Enanitos Verdes, Reyli, Belinda, and actors and actresses from Mexican film and TV.

We invite artists, designers, and the public to join this movement and help project Mexican talent. In addition to making an impact on the national economy and generating more ethical working conditions, when you buy the products, you are gaining greater sustainability in your life by investing in quality pieces.

The Bazaar has free entry, and there will be Mexican food by Antojeria Itinerante La Ksita and organic drinks by AguaMenta in the gourmet area, plus live music by DJ Benjamin P. This is a pet-friendly event for the whole family.

We thank the visual artist and cartoonist Marco Bautista for the host mojigangas at our entrance and the very talented graphic artist and resident Machuca for our poster design.

The Alternative Design Bazaar is a self-managed organization that aims to promote fair trade and encourage collaboration as a strategy of coexistence and social cohesion.
