SPA Big News and July Pets of the Month

From the SPA

By Lynn Weisberg and Joan DiPiero

News Flash: Anonymous donors have agreed to match every donation to the Pet Food Money Bank up to US$1,500 through the month of July! Let’s take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to double the contributions in July. All money raised will be applied to the annual cost of feeding our resident animals (about 100 cats and dogs waiting to be adopted). Our goal: 150,000 pesos/US$9,000. Don’t delay—please deposit pesos and dollars today! Details are here: or call our office at 152 6124 to find out how to contribute.

Among those benefitting from this fundraiser are our July Pets of the Month.

Discovered when she meowed from within a tied garbage bag, Scylla quickly got over being cranky when offered cat food at the SPA. This two-year-old tabby female has pretty gazing green eyes, a mellow personality, and is pleased by some gentle head rubs and chasing the wand toy.

Lorenzo, formerly considered a neighborhood pest rummaging through garbage for food, despite being under threat of poisoning, was luckily caught by a caring person who brought him to the SPA. This handsome four to five-year-old pale orange boy made up for his lack of nourishment by eating up a storm for weeks and putting on extra pounds so he’d be more to love. Now chunky, large, and handsome, he is a joy, both playful and affectionate.

A medium-sized, 1-3/4 year-old blonde beauty, Emma is a bit shy at first with strangers, but warms up quickly. She enjoys playing with other dogs and is good with kids as well. Undemanding, loyal, and smart, she would make a great pet. Suki is a large, golden blonde young lady, 1-1/2 years old, very strong, energetic, and always has a wagging tail. She needs a home with protected outdoor space so that she can run and play to her heart’s content. She is friendly with other dogs and would love a playmate. A bit timid in new situations at first, she is willing to take on new challenges so long as she gets some hugs, pats on the head, and treats. She is funny, sweet, and eager to become part of a family.

Adopt (400 pesos, which includes sterilization, vaccinations, and deworming) any of these Pets of the Month during July and receive a free adoption kit. Preview all our available animals at (Adopt Me! pages) and meet them at Los Pinos 7, Monday–Saturday between 11 and 2, 152 6124.
