Dig out your cowboy boots, sequins, and tassels because Friday, June 24, is the opening night of Forever Patsy Cline at 7:30 pm at the San Miguel Playhouse. Well-known Puerto Vallarta entertainer Mikki Prost will perform with her accompanist Victor Vega, as she narrates the life story and remarkable music of the famous country-western singer.

Mikki has performed her tribute show to Patsy Cline for five seasons. She opened the first show in Puerto Vallarta in November 2011.

“It was not only sold out; they were standing outside the joint just to hear Patsy’s music,” she said. “I was blown away!”

Patsy recorded 112 songs until her death in 1963. Her success in the country field segued into pop crossover hits. It’s an enormous output and Mikki enjoys exploring each and every one.

“With each new song I learn of hers, the deeper she descends into my soul. There are songs of hers that sometimes bring me to tears,” Mikki recounted. “She related the lyrics to her life and sang them that way.”

Patsy was honored in 1973 with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Forever Patsy Cline plays Friday through Sunday, June 24–26, at the San Miguel Playhouse. Shows are at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday, and there is a Sunday matinee at 3 pm. Tickets are 250 pesos.

The following weekend, on July 1, 2 and 3, Mikki will present “Where the Boys Are—A Tribute to Connie Francis.” Tickets are 200 pesos. Mikki will perform to recorded tracks and take you on a musical journey back to the rock and roll era.

“There was a childhood connection with Connie because I grew up in New Jersey with her music being one of my favorites,” Mikki remembered.

She read Connie’s biography Who’s Sorry Now, and “the story of Connie’s life grabbed me. I had no idea what she went through, and I wanted to be the one to tell her story and sing her songs.”

Tickets for both shows are on sale at the Galería Ensueños, Mesones 57A, at the corner of Reloj, from 10:30am to 2pm daily except Tuesdays, and at the Playhouse one hour before show time.

The San Miguel Playhouse is located at Av. Independencia 82. There is free secure parking and a taxi concierge. All seats are reserved. The Playhouse is wheelchair accessible. Come early and enjoy a glass of wine at the bar.
