Federico Correa Exhibition at Museo de Arte de Querétaro MAQRO
By Marco Lozano
“Relatos en Pintura,” an exhibition of paintings by Federico Correa, is scheduled to open at The Museo de Arte de Querétaro (MAQRO). The opening reception is June 30 at 8pm. All are welcome. The exhibit will be on view the entire month of July 2016.
It features a collection of large-scale work by Correa. The work is intensely personal, yet charged by universal themes.
Correa is a long-time resident of San Miguel de Allende. He creates his paintings in his studio on Sierra Gorda. His familial roots stem from Zacatecas and Aguascalientes, Mexico. Born in Salinas, California, into a family of farm workers, he grew up in Soledad, a farming community in Salinas Valley.
Correa has exhibited at a number of venues. He is especially proud and honored to have shown at the Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramirez “El Nigromante,” which is associated with Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA). In addition to private galleries in San Miguel de Allende, Correa has also exhibited in Puerto Vallarta, Miami, San Francisco, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Norfolk, VA, among other cities.
Correa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from San Jose State University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Virginia), and a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Mount Royal Graduate School of Painting, Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. A Ford Foundation Fellow, Correa was awarded the prestigious Walters Art Museum Fellowship from the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore. For more about Correa visit www.artecorrea.com.
