Why Isn’t Manifesting Working for Me?
By Margaret Nash
Do you ever wonder why something you really, really want hasn’t manifested in your life? You want it, it’s good for you and all concerned, you are motivated, and you’ve taken action. Yet, after you’ve just read an awesome book about it and feel fired up, ready to make this happen after a few days, or maybe weeks, you just forget about it or give up because nothing at all has shifted? You’re still overweight, still smoking two packs a day, still haven’t got that new online business earning money. You fill in the blanks.

With me it’s learning Spanish. I’ve been here in San Miguel ten years and counting, and my Spanish is still awful. I faithfully put it in my New Year’s resolutions every year, periodically join a class, decide yes, this is the year, and nothing much improves. Oh, I can order in a restaurant with flair, but try speaking to me on the phone in Spanish and you’re dead to me.
Why is this? Why can’t we get what we really need and want? It’s because the goal solves a big problem and there is too much negative emotional charge around the problem and not enough positive charge around the goal.
Let me explain. A goal solves a problem; otherwise it’s not a goal. It’s just a wish. The more serious the problem is, the more negative emotion you will attach to it. And that will affect how you act. There is nothing esoteric about this. It’s practical and explicable. Many self-help gurus will couch it in language that makes it sound mysterious. “The Universe is blocking your goal because you are not aligned with your desires,” they croon. “You are preventing your goal from manifesting on this plane because of unconscious karma.”
Well, OK, but a more pragmatic way to put it is that we naturally pull away from and avoid things that make us feel bad. If it makes us feel bad, then it’s not fun, and we don’t do it.
I have hugely negative stuff going on about not knowing Spanish. I feel embarrassed, terribly un-politically correct, and I apologize a lot. If I’m going to have any chance of improving, I need to lower the negative emotional charge and relax, chill, and be a little easier on myself.
Join us, Margaret Nash and Sarah Powers, both certified Life Coaches, at our workshop and find out more about how to get manifesting to work for you. Explore your goals, the emotions involved and how to lower them, and discover how you can use your mind to create whatever you want in your life.
See you there! It will be fun and practical, we promise!
