June, 2016 Pets of the Month

From the SPA

By Lynn Weisberg and Joan DiPiero

Miny and Sonny, both large, mixed breed dogs, have been at the SPA since January 2014. Miny is a gorgeous female who arrived with three siblings (Eeny, Meeny, and Moe, now adopted). At first blush, she looks fierce, but has kind eyes and a timid personality. She is smart, loving, and very strong. When she knows you, she leans on your for reassurance and affection. Sonny is a beautiful male, who is also very strong. He can sound quite intimidating when he barks, but he is actually very gentle and also a bit timid in spite of his size. He doesn’t like new situations very much and would prefer to be in a home where he feels safe and cherished. Both of these sweet dogs would thrive in a place with plenty of outdoor protected space for them to move about in. They also would be excellent deterrents to intruders just because of their size. It’s time for both of them to be given a chance to be in a home environment where they can become family members and blossom into the magnificent dogs they truly are.

Ten-month-old brothers Radar and Rusty are our cats of the month. Radar immediately stood out in this large litter of seven by being the only brunette in a family of redheads. A tabby and white incredibly charming little guy, he’s inquisitive, easygoing, vocal, and an all-around pleasing kitten who gets along equally with his roommates at the SPA and every human he meets. Rusty was also easily identifiable from his littermates, having the darkest coat—a deep rich cinnamon. He’s such a boy, wanting to play hard and often and not feeling the need for too much rest. There`s way too much going on in his world to waste time sleeping when he may miss out on all the action.

Adopt (400 pesos which includes sterilization, vaccinations, and deworming)) any of these Pets of the Month during June and receive a free adoption kit. Preview all our available animals at www.spasanmiguel.org (Adopt Me! pages) and meet them at Los Pinos 7, Monday-Saturday between 11 and 2, 152-6124.

Please help feed Miny, Sonny, Radar, and Rusty, and all the SPA dogs and cats by contributing generously to the Pet Food Money Bank. All donations go to the cost of food. Read about it on the SPA’s website at spasanmiguel.org/how-you-can-help/pet-food-money-bank/
