Valle del Maíz is one of the most traditional districts in San Miguel de Allende. It is an area rich in ritual pre-hispanic cultural expressions, where the traditions are much respected in an intimate fusion with the Catholic religion. As the patron, the Santa Cruz (Holy Cross) is celebrated in a big way at the end of May every year. This festival is a symposium, a place to share and discuss the locals’ devotion and the preservation of their culture. Although the character is ritual and it is not a fair where things are sold, it is one of the best parties of the year.
