Casa Katalina Is Not Gone! It’s Moving!

Casa Katalina Storefront Jesús

Casa Katalina has been providing exquisitely designed jewelry, fine handcrafted home accessories, and unique vintage pieces to San Miguel de Allende visitors and residents for over 10 years. The store’s founder and owner, interior designer Katherine Leutzinger, attributes its success to the quality of its products and unparalleled customer service. “We have been lucky enough to establish strong relationships with some of the best artisans in the city. Working together, we’ve created exclusive jewelry and home accessory lines. The distinctive quality of our products is what initially attracts people into our store, but they return time and again because our customer service is second to none.”

It may, therefore, have come as a shock to find that the store you know and love, along with its iconically decorated window and birdcages, is no longer open at its former Calle de Jesús address. You will be relieved to know that Casa Katalina is not gone. It is just moving.

Leutzinger explains: “To stay fresh and dynamic, a business needs to renew itself once in a while. After spending 10 years successfully building the business at the Jesús address, I felt it was time to shake things up a bit. I acquired a wonderful new location at Calle Correo 51, one I know our customers are going to fall in love with. Remodeling on the new property, however, will take about six months, so the store will be in hiatus during that time.”

When asked if she is worried about losing business, Kathy replied that she had come up with a plan to continue serving her Casa Katalina clientele. “I knew that not having a storefront for six months would affect business, and many of our customers did express concern about not having access to our products. You see, we are a favorite stop for both residents and returning visitors. They count on Casa Katalina for their travel gift shopping, as well as their personal purchases. So, I came up with an interim solution.”

Leutzinger’s creative solution is “shopping by appointment.” Shoppers will still have access to Casa Katalina’s exclusive jewelry and many of its home accessories, but now it will be by appointment. For new customers, the change will be reflected in Casa Katalina’s regular weekly ad in the Atención newspaper, and existing customers will be updated through the store’s mailing list.

“I am confident that this solution will allow Casa Katalina to continue to do business until work on the new location is complete. The by-appointment model will allow us to continue to serve our clients as they have come to expect. We will continue to accept credit cards, and we will work hard to ensure that their shopping experience is as fun and as pleasant as always.”

Casa Katalina will be open for business by appointment Thursdays 11am–2pm, Fridays 11am–5pm and Saturdays 11am–2pm. For an appointment and directions to the temporary location, please call 121 6573 or send an email to katherineleutzinger@gmail.com.
