Playreaders SMA Presents God of Carnage

By Arden Koontz

God of Carnage is a raucous and hilarious look at modern parenting and polite society gone awry. The play opens with Annette and Alan Raleigh and Veronica and Michal Novak meeting to discuss a recent playground brawl between two of their children. Careful decorum devolves into thinly veiled hostility, which in turn gives way to insults and chaos as rum replaces coffee and battle lines blur. The play opened on Broadway in 2009 where it was a crowd favorite and Tony Award winner. The New York Times called it “high voltage,” noting “Never underestimate the pleasure of watching really good actors behaving terribly.”
