With all the need we see around us, it’s good to know that the city has social services to combat hunger, disability, and violence, for example. On Tuesday, April 19, at 12:30pm, the head of DIF will  expound on the city’s social services. The meeting will be at Hotel Misión, Salida a Querétaro 1, and will be free and in English. Presenting will be Emilia Vega Cabrera, president of the DIF board and wife of our city’s mayor.

Emilia will share information about what the city is doing to decrease the number of working and homeless children through programs such as school breakfasts, educational day care services, and preschool education. She will also explain what services elders are eligible for to help them retain their independence and tell of the city’s rehabilitation services for people with physical, visual, and intellectual disabilities.

In the category of violence, she will explain what legal advice is available for family matters and psychological care. Emilia will talk about the coordination between government agencies in the areas of legal services, immigration, and adoptions, and she will address how city scholarships are helping students and how the city provides transportation for various medical reasons.

Emelia has a PhD in technology and innovation management, a master’s degree in international business, a bachelor’s degree in economics, and a specialization in energy. Before leading DIF, she worked for the Electricity Company, CFE, in planning and modernization and was a renewable energy consultant.
