The Boulevard … Complete in August or October?
By Jesús Aguado
Although Felipe Tapia Campos, director of the Public Works Department earlier assured in a press conference that the reconstruction of the boulevard de la Conspiración would be concluded within 305 working days, that is to say by early 2017, he has now made it clear that the works will be done this year, sometime between August and October.
Besides the reconstruction of the boulevard, the section between the Pípila traffic circle to the Malanquín is being expanded to four lanes along with the area between the Allende traffic circle and calle del Llano. These works have generated vehicular traffic as well as economic damage in the area.
The work on the boulevard started on January 18. In a press conference, Felipe Tapia commented, “I have declared in several interviews that the advances that we have [made] in this space are within the estimated time. I have also said that the works will be done within a period of 305 working days, although if they keep working as they are doing, we may finish before.”
Taking into account that a year has 365 calendar days, if the work began on January 18, there are just 255 working days—Monday through Friday—until December 30. If we add the 49 Saturdays, that makes 304 working days without counting national holidays.
In a new interview, Tapia made it clear to Atención, “We did say 305 calendar days—no working days—from January 18. From there you have to count the 305 days that end up in October approximately. We are working to decrease the time of the reconstruction to 200 calendar days.”
