Smart Space seeks workshop instructors. Smart Space has office space with all the amenities for rent. Smart Space offers “The Splendor of Venetian Baroque Music,” a concert, March 18, at 6pm at St. Paul’s Church at Cardo 6 for 150 pesos. “How Baroque Music is Built,” a lecture, will be on March 19 at Smart Space for 150 pesos. The two events can be attended for 200 pesos. Tickets are on sale at St. Paul’s, La Conexión at Aldama 3, and Smart Space. Smart Space offers “The Rise and Fall of the Baroque Movement” with Rodrigo Trevino, director of the San Miguel Baroque Music Festival, March 24 from 5–7pm in English and from 7–9pm in Spanish for 150 pesos. Smart Space offers “The Birth of the Orchestra” with Rebecca Huber, artistic director of the Baroque Orchestra Symphonie Atlantique, April 1 from 5–7pm for 150 pesos at Salida a Celaya 34 at Llycsa next to Bridgestone Tires. Amigos de la Presa invites kayakers to Wednesdays on the Water, March 23 and 30, from 9:15-11am. Morning Paddle and Lunch events will be March 18 and 25, at 8:45am, for 300 pesos. The Rise of the New Moon Paddle will be March 23 at 6pm. A Long Distance Paddle event will be March 25 at 11am. An Artist’s Light Photo Paddle will be March 24 at 8:15am. Kayak Two Churches Sunday will be March 28 at 9:30am. The In Search of the Ibis Evening Paddle event will be March 28 at 6pm. Kayaking lessons will be offered March 22 at 10:30am. Introduction to Rowing will be held March 21 at 10am for 200 pesos. Stand Up Paddling Instruction will be offered March 29 at 10am for 150 pesos. Shoreline Cleanup will be March 26 at 9am. Ecol-Salon Meet the Presa will be March 31 at 6pm. Special outings may be developed for out-of-town guests, birthdays, anniversaries, or whatever with three days of advance notice, for from four to 12 participants, and 200 pesos per kayak. The Rural Education Institute is hosting a golf fundraiser March 19 at 9:30am at Club de Golf Malanquin to fund the completion of their educational community center at Don Diego, also known as La Cantera. Volunteer News

The community lost one of its most foundational members in January when Peggy Bell passed away in her 80s. Peggy was instrumental in the founding of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Miguel, as well as Mujeres en Cambio and Jovenes Adelante. She was active with Democrats Abroad, Global Justice, and the Audubon Society. A celebration of her life will be on March 26 at Hotel Aldea, Ancha de San Antonio 15, at 12:30pm. We extend our sympathies to her family.

Rev. Farley Wheelwright. The community and the world lost one of its most ardent advocates in February when the Rev. Farley Wheelwright passed away at age 99. Author, civil rights activist, cherished friend, Unitarian Universalist minister, Rotarian, personnel professional, public relations professional, peace advocate, and social activist, Farley will perhaps best be remembered for his work with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. A celebration of Farley’s life will be March 20 at 3pm at Hotel Aldea, Ancha de San Antonio 15. We extend our sympathies to Farley’s family.
