Overflow of Mexican Creativity at the 15th Alternative Design Bazaar of San Miguel
By Jade Arroyo
The weekend of March 12—13, the Alternative Design of San Miguel bazaar returns to the city with a selection of designers showing a range of contemporary fashion, handbags, accessories, decor, designer jewelry, illustration, graphic art, and botanist/organic and gourmet products.
15th Bazar de Diseño Alternativo de San Miguel
Saturday and Sunday, Mar 12 and 13, 10am—6pm
Centro Cultural Allende
Ancha de San Antonio 30
(between Mercado Orgánico and Instituto Allende)
The bazaar seeks to be a forum in our city for independent creative ideas emerging in Mexico. For more than two years this organization has brought the work of young designers, artists, and craftsmen to San Miguel de Allende, introducing a breath of fresh air to the local scene with affordable innovations.
By knowing who made your clothes, your lamp, and the soap in your shower, you’re helping create more ethically produced work and support the national economy.
We thank Pachuca for the various illustrations, designs, and art that created the bazaar’s image, which evokes spring, and artist and salvager Marco Bautista for the traditional presence of his masquerades and fancy photo-booth. Come take a picture with us!
Pet friendly event.

The concept of the bazaar began out of the need for organizing designers to have an outlet for selling their products. The project was born in November 2013 as the Alternative Design Bazaar. Today it is an outlet for new talent in Mexico. To join, one must go through a selection process seeking quality products, a good price, and production in Mexico.
