This raucous comedy-drama from playwright Craig Wright (Six Feet Under, Lost) tells the tale of a harried New York theater producer who is scrambling to secure a Hollywood A-list actor (think Johnny Depp) to appear in a gargantuan Broadway play about the French Revolution.
Talented Mick Diener plays the producer and energetic Phoebe Greyson is his secretary. The play moves at the pace of a Hollywood thriller, with just as many plot twists and turns−not to mention sheep!
Audiences have been eating up Mistakes Were Made since its debut earlier this week.
“This play is 90 minutes of pure verbal pyrotechnics,” raves San Miguel actor and playwright Sky Yeager. ”As the producer Felix Artifex, Mick Diener is a one man tour de force, showing us how far a desperate man will go using all of his skills in negotiation, intimidation, and downright begging. It’s a breathtaking performance.” Lola Smith, the doyenne of San Miguel theater, shares: “What I enjoyed most about Mistakes Were Made is that it feels so real. There is no sense of watching a plot being developed and an actor interpreting a role. It is more like you are eavesdropping on an actual happening.”
And local playwright Mark Saunders urges anyone with a love for the arts and theater to go see it. “Mistakes Were Made by Six Feet Under TV show writer Craig Wright includes some of the best rants in modern theatre. It’s smart, funny, poignant, and memorable—and the acting and directing are spot on. Don’t make the mistake of missing this play!”
Mistakes Were Made will be performed this Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, plus two shows on Sunday at 3 and 7:30pm at the San Miguel Playhouse, Avenida Independencia 82.
