Dazzling Sale of Clothes to Benefit Mujeres en Cambio

By Anne Callanel

On the occasion of the 4th International Tango Festival taking place in San Miguel from until March at Hotel Real de Minas, a huge sale of gently used clothing and accessories is organized for Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5.

Used Clothes Sale
To benefit Mujeres en Cambio
Fri and Sat, Mar 4 and 5, 11am-7pm
Hotel Real de Minas

Participants in the tango festival have made donations of clothes, shoes, and accessories from the US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, and Europe.

The sale will take place from 11am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday in the main patio of the Hotel Real de Minas, next to the entrance to the grand ballroom.

All proceeds will be donated to Mujeres en Cambio.

You will find great bargains among the extensive line of dresses, skirts, tops, slacks, shoes, shawls, and jewelry. There are great opportunity to shine when you next dance tango, salsa, swing or whatever, or simply when you next go out! Spice up and add elegance or variety to your wardrobe! It will be possible to try on the clothes on site and, to make your selection easier, a San Miguel seamstress will be at your disposal at the booth (for a fee), should you need any alterations.

Every single peso made from the sale of these dazzling clothes will go directly to Mujeres en Cambio (Women in Change). Mujeres en Cambio is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to enable rural Mexican women to stay in school and continue their education and thus strengthen their self-sufficiency and self-respect.

More education leads to more choices for the young women of Mexico. For 20+ years Mujeres en Cambio has been providing educational scholarships to young Mexican women from several of the rural communities surrounding San Miguel. Scholarships are given to deserving students who are recommended by their school’s principal and teachers. Continued receipt of a scholarship is dependent upon maintaining strong academic standing. Many of our students graduate from high school and continue on to technical school or university. Every year Mujeres en Cambio provides modest financial support to over 150 students to help them meet their educational goals and to improve their lifelong economic opportunities.

So come bright and early to select your new fashionable and glittering attire!
