Panthera works with all endangered felines worldwide. In Latin America they work on jaguar conservation under the Jaguar Corridor Initiative. The initiative strives to connect core jaguar populations throughout the species’ range from Argentina to Mexico, passing through human-dominated landscapes.
This way, their genetic integrity is preserved and they will be able to exist well into the future. Through multilateral alliances, governmental support, and regional cooperation, Panthera guarantees the safe passage for this magnificent animal throughout its entire range. Protecting jaguars on such a large scale is a winning strategy because significant ecosystems are also preserved and sustainability and human health are promoted. Even though Panthera’s Jaguar Corridor Initiative is focused on jaguars, the benefits go far beyond.
Panthera has presence in 14 Latin American countries, where successful conservation projects take place to save and protect this emblematic species as well as its habitat. Currently they are beginning to work in Mexico. The event that will take place in Casa Diana includes the presentation of the bilingual edition of the book K’iben de la Selva, written by biologist Diana Friedeberg, who coordinates and represents Panthera Mexico.
The prologue is written by famous Mexican writer Guadalupe Loaeza, who, besides having an admirable literary trajectory, has become an important public figure. K’iben de la Selva tells the story of K’iben the jaguar and the problems he faces in his changing landscape. It is beautifully illustrated by the following artists: Pedro Friedeberg, Carmen Gutiérrez, Artemio Sepulveda, Theo Toy, Ángel Pahuamba, Raymundo González, Miguel Ángel Morales, Maike Kreichgauer, Bibiana Domit, Mari Carmen Hernandez Meta, Erika Vega, Jim Flynn, and Diana Friedeberg.
The original artwork of K’iben de la Selva will be exhibited during the event. The art pieces vary from large and medium oil paintings, to small charcoal drawings and various sculptures.
We will also present Tequila Jaguar, a limited edition tequila from Tequila el Aguijón Casa Don Ramon designed by Pedro Friedeberg. This exquisite tequila is made from 100 percent agave aged in oak barrels and contains silver flakes. This limited edition of Tequila Jaguar is an extraordinary, very special artwork in itself.
Join us in this important and noble cause! Help us save jaguars while you enjoy a magical evening. Pedro Friedeberg, Guadalupe Loaeza, David Assa from Tequila Aguijón and many of the other artists who made this project possible will be present at the event.
