German Baritone Lorenz Miehlich in Concert at Casa Hogar Mexiquito
By Jesús Ibarra
On Saturday, February 20, the renowned German baritone Lorenz Miehlich will give a fundraising concert at Casa Hogar Mexiquito. He will be accompanied by German pianist Barbara Rogers, who lives in San Miguel. Mr. Miehlich is in demand as a guest artist in concerts throughout Europe and in Central America.
To benefit Casa Hogar Mexiquito
Baritone: Lorenz Miehlich
Pianist: Barbara Rogers
Capilla Casa Hogar Mexiquito
Salida a Dolores, across from the entrance to San Luis Rey
Sat, Feb 20, 6:30pm

The concert by Miehlich and Rogers will benefit the project that is being developed by Casa Hogar and the Universidad de León, which includes an on-site museum and a book in honor of Fray José Guadalupe Mojica, a prominent figure in San Miguel during the 1930s and founder of Mexiquito, currently housing 29 boys under the care of four Dominicas de María sisters and led by Mother Teófila Jaimes. It is intended that the entrance fees to the museum and the sales of the book become a permanent income source for Mexiquito. The project also includes the construction of facilities for psychological assistance for the boys at Casa Hogar. In coming articles we will give more information about the project. Support the project by attending this great concert, the only one Miehlich is giving during his stay in San Miguel.
A second fundraising concert will take place on March 19, also at Mexiquito. On that date we will show the art work being painted by local artist Edgardo Kerlegand at Mexiquito, in the space where the museum will be installed. Save the date, March 19.
