Excitement is building for the upcoming fundraiser party at Casa de los Ángeles! The daycare will celebrate its 15 years of operation with a Quinceañera party on Saturday, February 27, from 5 to 8pm. This fundraiser fiesta will be an opportunity to visit the daycare located in Colonia Santa Julia at Enrique Velasco Ibarra 9 and tour its new volunteer facility, as well as a time to enjoy music, fun, a silent auction and raffle, and of course, scrumptious Mexican food and beer, wine, and margaritas.

Beginning at 5:30pm, the children will perform several folkloric dances from San Miguel, and their teachers, cooks, and the mothers will follow with the Danza de los Viejitos, the Dance of the Little Old Men, made famous in Michoacán. Tuna Tradicional, the well-known troubadour group from San Miguel, will perform beginning at 6:15pm and quite certainly there will be dancing!

Guests will be able to bid on an incredible array of items in the silent auction throughout the evening. At the time of this writing, items include artworks by San Miguel artists Andrew Osta, Edina Sagart, Anado McLauchlin, Joan Goldberg, and Rebecca Caplice; restaurant certificates donated by area restaurants; a day of horseback riding for two at Xotolar Ranch, donated by Joe Poirier; an excursion to Cañada de la Virgen pyramids, donated by Albert Coffee; a champagne brunch for 10 and private tour of the mask museum, The Other Face of Mexico at Casa de la Cuesta Bed and Breakfast, donated by Heidi and Bill LeVasseur; a reader’s basket filled with books and CDs; a private dance party for 20, donated by Arthur Murray Studio; a week’s stay at a beachfront condo in Mazatlan, donated by Kay Miller; and a sunset dinner for six on the penthouse rooftop of Condos Caracol, donated by Joe Poirier.Guests can visit several of the daycare classrooms and watch the children doing their art projects. In another room, a video will feature the children and their varied activities. The tienda will be open where you can purchase Casa de los Ángeles merchandise, jewelry made by the mothers of the children, the book, Who are the Angels? by Dennis Manske, and photographs by Bob Schlagal. Also, don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets to win the three-and-a-half-foot tall tin angel, the hand-carved Michoacán chair, or the hand-painted stool by Oaxacan artist Blanca Gómez. We’ll end it all with a bang…fireworks for guests to enjoy and raise a toast to this incredible community of caring people.

See above for ticket locations. Parking is extremely limited so taking a cab is the best idea. Taxi service will be available for the return.
