Introducing Amor: La Conexion, Singles’/Solteros’ Social Club
By C. Fenton
“Now is the right time and place for a singles social club that focuses on networking as well as member connections for activities in town, plus dating and creating relationships,” commented Camilla Sands, who is bringing a San Miguel de Allende-style singles networking and dating club to life. Camilla was president of the International Music Festival of San Miguel for five years and is publisher of the Walking & Shopping Guide and accesssanmiguel.com. “Through community involvement and my business ventures, I see that there is a need for an organization that brings interesting, active singles together naturally.”

“The new singles club will offer networking activities each week, including fine dinner parties in private homes,” said Sands. The club’s application/questionnaire is called the “Networking-to-Know-You” guide and has been designed to help share personality profiles so that members can select people of interest to get to know through Amor: La Conexion, Singles’/Solteros’ Social Club.
Sands says that members’ “Networking-to-Know-You” requests to get to know any club member outside of a weekly planned social event, will go through Amor: La Conexion, Singles’/Solteros’ Social Club so that people have an easy way to say, “Yes, let’s get together for a visit,” or “No, thanks.” “We are offering very personalized service while focusing on relationships. We know that success from networking is a positive start for friendships and possibly future romance.”
Thanks to Susan Sargeant, owner of La Conexion. The Galería at La Conexion at Aldama 3 will be the site of an Amor: La Conexion, Singles’/Solteros’ Social Club happy hour Wednesdays through Saturdays from 5 to 7pm for members to network. Members may then go to the evening’s activity, pre-arranged by the club’s activity director, at various San Miguel venues, Thursdays through Saturdays.
People can learn about membership benefits and fill out a “Networking-to-Know-You” application/questionnaire at La Conexion during its business hours. Club members do not have to be full-time residents of San Miguel to apply for membership. Memberships begin at 500 pesos for three months.
A Valentine’s dance, “Tha Danze,” will kick off the club on Sunday, February 14, at 7:30pm at Obraje Teatro, a dance hall located at Calzada de la Presa 50. The dance will feature one of the top dance bands, Los Rabeats, plus food and beverages and a visit by the mojigangas (giant puppets). Tickets at 400 pesos per person are on sale all La Conexion mail service locations or at the door. One does not have to be a member to attend. Couples are also welcome at this special-event dance. Weekly club activities begin in March. For more information, call 415 114 9007 or visit a La Conexíon location.
