Celebrate Fabrica La Aurora’s Anniversary

By Jade Arroyo

On first Saturday of each month, the Fábrica holds a collective Art Walk during which all the galleries open their doors, offer cocktails, and inaugurate new exhibitions.

This month’s Art Walk will be very special because it will celebrate the 12th anniversary of La Fabrica La Aurora as the top stop for art and design in San Miguel de Allende.
This historical venue now exudes contemporaneity, hosting over 40 galleries, studios, and various exclusive boutiques.

In the early twentieth century, the building was a textile factory where manta (cotton fabric) was produced. For over 90 years, it was the main source of work in the city. The current architectural design respects the machines and gears that remain from that time. It’s like looking at an old tree with the roots exposed.

Among the art openings are Terra Mizwa’s “De las Cuevas”; a collective show from Zoho Gallery; new works by Eglen Aridjis at Aller Gallery, and the series of nine paintings, “Soldaderas II” by Merry Calderoni. Dust off that special dress and go check out this art buffet and good shopping venue.
