Chili Cook Off SMA has a history to be shared. It all started with Lucha Maxwell, a woman who at 98 years old boasts the vitality of a fearless cowboy. She’s well known for her contributions to San Miguel society. A few years ago, she started to promote this great event, bringing together friends and families in a day full of surprises, great music and, of course, chili. It was an immediate success.

After several great years, the event stopped taking place, leaving sadness among those who were so passionate about it. This year, Bocabierta brings back the event in hope of reviving this great San Miguel tradition that binds Mexican and American cultures so well together.

Professional chefs versus amateurs

Chili Cook Off brings together the best chefs with amateur cooks in an attempt to win the hearts and bellies of the attendees with their unique chili recipes. While using most of the same ingredients, each one of them will present a very different outcome.

This year, Bocabierta invites you to enjoy live entertainment presented by Magic Town Music.  Bring out your inner cowboy or cowgirl and win the award for best western outfit among many more surprises. Attendees will have a chance to vote for their favorite recipe after trying more than 30 different chilis.

Come join us in living the experience of Chili Cook Off a day before the Super Bowl. Start the party early with Bocabierta.
