If Horses Could Speak

By Christina Johnson

You are invited to a showing of the film, If Horses Could Speak. This is an interesting presentation for horse lovers, veterinarians, and professional body therapists.

If Horses Could Speak
Tue, Jan 12, 4pm
Quinta Loreto Hotel
Loreto 15
50 pesos

The film shows how incorrect “modern” riding and training negatively affect the health of horses. The natural movement of the horse uses muscles that are shown by anatomical overlays in the film. You will see the movement in real time and see what harm may befall the horse when a rider is unaware of the horse’s anatomy. The theory and narration is presented by author and equestrian Dr. Gerd Heuschmann, a German veterinarian.

I will give a short talk on the benefits of Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy. From watching the film, you will gain more knowledge of how the horse may receive an injury in one area of the body that emerges as pain in another, separate location. How can we be more respectful toward horses? How can we be more sensitive to their comfort? Using vivid color illustrations of the horse’s skeletal system, ligaments, and musculature, in addition to comparative photos depicting “correct” versus “incorrect” movement—and most importantly, photos of damaging schooling methods—Dr. Heuschmann convincingly argues that the horse’s body tells us whether our riding is truly gymnasticizing and “building the horse up,” or simply wearing it down and tearing it apart.

Tuesday, January 12, 4pm at the Hotel Quinta Loreto salon/TV room. Donation of 50 pesos to cover cost of room. Email: Christina Johnson at: to reserve a place.

Christina is an experienced craniosacral practitioner who specializes in equine work.
