Ring in the New Year with SPA Pets!
From the SPA
By Megan Gabel
We hope 2016 will be a great year for you and also for our SPA cats and dogs—they are ready to become family members! Two of our sweetest girls are Chikis and Nube—both have been waiting for forever homes for a long time. About six years old, Chikis is a small/medium, black and white beauty who has been with us since 2011! Absolutely brilliant, she has mastered many tricks (sit, stay, down, small mouth, heel, by me) and is unfailingly cheerful and ready for action. She is also quite protective and barks at strangers until she is sure they are friends. Then she does a whole-body wiggle with delight.
Almost four years old, Nube came to the SPA in November 2013. She is a lovely, medium-size, slender shepherd mix who is quite timid in new situations. With a bit of patience (and some treats), she will snuggle with you and be your best friend. She loves her walks and is an easygoing girl at heart. As wallflowers do, she will blossom with kindness and love from the right person.
Nevado was rescued and brought to us after being found tied to a tree, a first for us (and hopefully a last)! Nonplussed by this cruel treatment, Nevado bears no grudges. He’s a friendly, outgoing boy who loves to play hard and then curls up to sleep on our laps. White with abstract splotches of orange, this five-month-old is a very engaging kitten who has worked his way into our hearts.
Oreo somehow made his way to a backyard housing a very large, aggressive dog. The homeowner luckily swooped him up, saving him from the dinner menu. Because of this, I make no claims about his intelligence, but surely his other features outweigh this one small flaw. A handsome black and white tuxedo cat about 10 months old, he is both playful and loving. He is a very happy-go-lucky kind of guy who gets along with both people and other cats, making him an easy, stress-free pet.
Adopt (400 pesos) any of these Pets of the Month during January and receive a free adoption kit. Preview all our available animals at www.spasanmiguel.org (Adopt Me! pages) and meet them at Los Pinos 7, Monday-Saturday between 11 am and 2 pm. Happy New Year!
